Dirk Young joins Trailight team as Head of International
London, UK, 28 February 2022 – Dirk Young has taken on the role of Head of International at the pioneering compliance technologies organisation, Trailight. He will lead the delivery of certain products and enhance their capabilities to continue the company’s industry leading position in meeting global regulatory requirements around accountability standards.
Dirk has always had a vested interest in helping firms find solutions to manage their conduct and accountability requirements and embed the right culture within their business. This complements Trailight’s 30 years of conduct risk and compliance technology expertise and their uniquely cultural approach to governance solutions.
Having been a keen member of the Trailight board since 2017, he has moved into a more hands-on role within the company to manage their roadmap for international expansion, while maintaining his current role as Head of SM&CR at Jupiter Asset Management.
Dirk’s previous roles have included the implementation of SM&CR, conduct, and compliance processes on a global scale for leading global financial services firms, including Barclays, Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas, and Credit Suisse. With 20 years of experience dealing with regulatory standards worldwide, and a deep-rooted understanding of the international licensing and accountability market, he is extremely well positioned to step into the role of Head of International at Trailight.
“Global products are, and will continue to be, a major focus for many organisations. We’ll be looking to build out our global licensing and registration product which will allow firms to better manage all international registered staff and jurisdictions from a single tool,” Dirk explains. “This will be hugely valuable for any organisations with a multi-national presence and multi-site operations in allowing them to integrate their compliance technologies while accommodating varying regulatory requirements.”
After a successful implementation of SM&CR in the UK, other global regulators are now going live with similar requirements, such as Ireland, Singapore, Australia and South Africa to name a few, presenting ripe international opportunities. Trailight’s recent client wins in Ireland and Singapore, on top of an already market leading position in the UK, has poised the platform to deliver against client needs around globalising both governance and accountability standards in their firms.
Dirk brings a valuable perspective to Trailight from his extensive background working on the client side of governance. Combined with his years on the board of Trailight and familiarity with their processes, his addition to the core team will aptly support the company’s highly human-centric approach to its technology offering.
“As a company, we pride ourselves on our depth of knowledge and expertise on the customer problem,” David says. “Dirk’s unique experience managing global compliance processes and people from our customers’ perspective will really strengthen our understanding and help us build the best possible technology for them.”
“It’s all about the people for us,” David McNair Scott, CEO of Trailight, continues. “This is what distinguishes us from our competitors. We put people at the heart of our platform, our products, and our approach to solving the challenges that our customers face in an increasingly global regulatory environment.
Our joint goal is to build out our platform and products in order to help customers on a global level. We aim to develop an Individual Regulatory Hub for global organisations so they can meet all their individual regulatory requirements across the world – all the while keeping people at the centre.”
